Located 20 minutes south of downtown Portland, Oregon, we are part of the beautiful Pacific Northwest! The City of Tigard is home to roughly 60,000 people who enjoy vibrant neighborhoods, parks, trails, schools and shopping centers.

Application Process

The first step is to get in touch with a recruiter by providing your name and contact information! To get started, you must be at least 21 years old and a U.S. citizen.

We can help walk you through the rest of the process. For a new officer, that includes an initial public safety eligibility exam, online application, physical agility test, in-person interview and background investigation. After an interview with the Chief of Police, you’ll also need to pass a psychological evaluation, medical exam and drug test. For lateral officers, we’d be happy to schedule you directly for an in-person interview.
